Sandra Palombo and the passage of time
As for grazing his father's death represents the end of childhood and family peace of mind, so for Palombo represents the loss of virginity, entry into the pain, the encounter with the annihilation of the physical, the discovery of the dramatic dimension of life. And in this way, the loss of virginity made aware of death, where things are precarious and affections, the memory takes on a tragic dimension of contrast between the recalling of the time (all about the fantasy and the dream) and recalling the adult (tamed by reality and conscious chronological axis that beats the living). The spectacle of the ship that bears on the island (remember that Sandra Palombo lives on the island of Elba) the convicts has in itself the strength of a nineteenth-century press, the black and white films and the Risorgimento.
